“THE GREEN MAN” A TRIBUTE TO FRANK COOK

A film on the life and works of Frank Cook, an herbalist, teacher, botanical explorer, transition culture activist, and pollinator who taught appreciation of nature’s abundance.

Refusing to be confined by the conforms of modern day society, Frank Cook inspired countless people around the world to return to their roots of community resilience by teaching how to use local plants for food and medicine.

This ten-minute tribute captures the essence of beloved Green Man, Frank Cook, through his own words, as well as the recollection of friends and family.

With Nature as the classroom and Frank the voice of the green world, his life was a demonstration of how to consciously steward the earth and listen to our hearts.

Compelled by a mission to meet the approximately 500 plant families on the planet, this botanical globe trotter poetically put the story of the plants into practical, daily engagement, reminding people to “Eat something wild every day” and to look at plants as allies.

This film depicts how, in spite of an unexpected death at an early age, Frank Cook, through his writings, plant walks, lectures and networking at world gatherings, was able to bring down the green wall for thousands, helping to see the trees from the forest.
